Where to Eat, Get Your Gear

Whether hiking, sightseeing, camping, or just driving around, you're bound to get hungry. The canyon has several options for both dining and groceries.

Restaurants

El Tovar and Bright Angel Lodge have nicer sit down dining with tablecloths, china. The menu, service and prices are similar to what you would expect in most restaurants. Be advised, In the evenings there is a mild dress code at the El Tovar.

Cafeterias

There are two cafeterias in the Grand Canyon, both appeal to those on a budget and trying to travel light. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere casual, and the a la carte serving line makes selecting what looks good to you much easier. One cafeteria is near the General Store shopping area and the other in the Maswik Lodge. There is little difference in the two cafeterias.

You can order burgers, other grilled meats and chicken at one of the popular food stations. There is also a pasta station, a Tex-Mex food taco place, and a cold sandwich area. Drinks, salads and desserts are available near the cashier. You should be able to leave satisfied, provided you don't go in expecting gourmet cuisine.

The cafeterias are open for three meals a day, but not between meals. Check the times early in the day so you don’t miss lunch.

Groceries

At the Grand Canyon General Store shopping area there is an adequate supermaket. With a fully-stocked produce section, canned goods, frozen foods, ice cream, beer and liquor, barbecue supplies, drinks and ready-made sandwiches.

Besides the obvious financial reasons, shopping at the store also allows you to picnic at the rim sharing a meal with your traveling companions and enjoying the sights that you came for in the first place.

Supplies and Services

You can also find film, batteries, sunscreen, health and beauty needs, and plenty of souvenirs to remember your visit, and take back for the less fortunate.

With all the visitors who can't wait to share their experience with friends back home there is a large US Post Office located in the Grand Canyon General Store shopping area. For those in need of cash there is an ATM located in the shopping area also.
